Dear Jennifer, Just got your CD - The Magician after a "CD of the Week" review in The Sunday Times. In the review your music is likened to Kate Bush and early (good) Tori Amos. these are two artists that I have listened to for the past 15 years or so, so I had to give your CD a try. I must say it's everything I could have immagined. Conjouring Little Earthquakes and The Hounds of Love but being very much it's own animal, this it one of the best albums I have bought this year, and in a year of stand out, if out of mainstreem purchases, that's saying something. My only problem is that you seem to have bypassed Ireland in your European tour. Please reconsider the next time you are over here and keep up the likes of Mad Magdeline!!

Hi Jennifer & Brendan, (Nov.20) I just got home from the Panningen show; it was, again, amazing..... I very much enjoyed both the Leiden and Panningen shows, they were very different, but both had something very special. I hope you will enjoy the pie Paul and I brought, and that the remainder of the tour goes well. Can't wait for the new album, and the next European tour! Regards to Barbie and Ken, Love, W

Dear Jennifer, I've just bought The Musician after reading a review in The Times newspaper here in the UK - Money well spent indeed! You are in the same league as Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Beverley Craven. Absolutely BRILLIANT - Thank you for creating such a magical album. At the age of 57 I might just be one of your oldest fans!! Best wishes, xx

Dear Jennifer, Like all your other "Venters", i read the Times review of the Musician and wanted it immediately. I had it on order with my local shop for 4 weeks when a mate of mine told me you were playing in Hull (??!!) in the UK and we immediately decided we'd have to travel the 100 miles on a dark, wet November nite to "check you out". We were surprised at the size of the venue and feel sure you'll soon be back playing to the Albert Hall etc. However, it was such a personal experience - more so than any other i've had. We loved it and would have liked to hear much more. Your voice ... well, what can i say! Look after it so we can all enjoy it for years to come. Of course you were there and strolling around and talking to everybody, and i'm very grateful that i actually purchased my copy of the CD from you and got it dedictaed and signed as well. Trust me, it's been seen by quite a few people already, and i've told my two sons who are at University that i am your "groupie" now. But since that nite, i've played your CD and it is really amazing, and i was particularly pleased that at one talking point you say "Anyway" in the same very distinctive way that i picked up on during your performance as you talked to the audience. Even that sends a shiver! So thank you, and i will watch your site for UK dates in the future and i hope that next time you have a chance to enjoy a "chip butty". Kindest reagrds Phil Appleby PS. Brendan's pretty cool as well, and i'm glad he enjoyed his pints of good northern English ale.

Phil Appleby / phil.appleby@amethyst.co.uk / England

Dear Jennifer, I was in london due to work during the further beyond nashville festival. I decided to go and see chip taylor because Jennifer was supporting him. I had not heard either of them before I went but I saw a review in the Times about Jennifer which convinced me to go. It was one of those life changing events. I sat near the front of the stage when jen came on not knowing what to expect. From the minute the music started and especially when jen started singing I knew I was in the presence of greatness. From the first note until the last I was entranced by Jens talent. To be honest I dont remember what songs were played and I dont remember much about the performance other than the abiding memory of seeing something amazing happening. I have been going to see bands for over a decade now but I do not remember being so entranced by the music as at Jens show. Chip was superb but christ Jen was out of this world. It really affirmed my faith in music, and heres a bit of hero worship but I spoke to Jen after her performance and she signed my video and I am so happy. How many artists hang out and talk to the fans after their performance let alone someone so talented. Respect also to Brendan for both his double bass accompaniment and also his obvious inspiration to jen lyrics. What an amazing performance, never seen anything like it and i doubt I ever will again.

Dear Jennifer, I am still thinking about the great evening in 013. Your music really touched me and the atmosphere was really fantastic! I will come to visit you in Den Bosch for sure. Other concerts I will try to visit. I hope you still know who I am, I think you still remember me though. Fact is that since I have been seeing you sing, I kept on thinking about you and your lovely music. I hope we can stay in contact with the internet and meet each other soon. Thank you for the things you wrote in my cd '"the musician", I am really happy with that. Perhaps a strange question: why you put such a strong emphasis on spanking in the concert last Saturday? For me, spanking has an important place in life and I was wondering how you think about this. Anyway, I hope to see you and Brendan soon performing on stage, so we can make a great evening of it. Funny, some people asked me after the concert if the passing of a "cigarette" to you was part of the plan or sp! ontaniously? People told me it looked so natural and normal. I hope you enjoyed it too and I hope you like Deventer tomorrow. By the way, do you have an other emailadresss? Thanks for the lovely evening, Jennifer and see you soon. One of your friends, P

Dear Jennifer and Brendan, We want to let you know that we greatly enjoyed your evening show at the Witte Paarden. It was very special to us. Your music made a deep impression on us. It was a very intimate concert, which was real nice. But you deserve a bigger audience. We are convinced that it wil be the case in the near future. We want to say thanks for the sweet words that you wrote down in de cd booklet of the Musician. We hope to see you again next spring. Love from Els and Henk.

my dear Jennifer, here's a little message from this guy you met in Panningen about a week ago. the one who was there by himself and had been driving for about an hour to get there, which really didn't matter at all, and had to get up a 6 AM. so I hope you remeber me now, 'cause I sure remember you. so right now I'm thinking of you, and to the fact that I wanna see you play again, so are you coming back to Holland ? ever ? because when you do, I'll be there to, just hanging at the bar, having myself a good time for now I say thank you for this wonderful night I shared with you ( and about 40 others ) I hope we'll stay in touch, by email or whatever. gretings and much love from the wetlands Roel

Dear Jennifer: I just heard your cd and I'm amazed, surpriced, moved and...feelings I can try describing by making music better then using just words (I'm a Musician myself). You really gave me something I was looking for...beauty in music!!! Shame I didn't see one of your shows in Holland, I'll be seeing and hearing you next time (soon...?). Good luck with your love and passion you bring to other people and thank you! Love and lovely chords...Jeroen (P.S. I'm trying to break through myself, its hard. I'm touring with the Golden Earring, 7 and 14 december. Our web-page: www.blackheartbetty.com It's different from my own songs (singing, guitar and piano), perhaps you'd like to share some music one day...?)

Dear Jennifer, so sorry I'm missing your concert at the Borderline in London tonight. I bought The Musician after a) reading the Sunday Times review and b) seeing a poster in the Borderline when I went to see the band "Boy on a Donkey" there recently ... you should listen to some of their music. I'm missing your concert because I'm travelling on business in the Middle East, but I'm playing "The Musician" to my friends over here, and they are loving it too, so at least I'm getting satisfaction from that. By the way, Santa's Secret should be the single ... it's spine tingling music, at least the equal of Kate Bush at her best (Wuthering Heights, for example). All the best, and looking forward to your next offering.

Hey Jennifer, I took a little stab at translating Richard's journal since I thought it was a nice piece. (it's in your email) The original is here: http://www.jenniferterran.com/europe02/index.html#richard I'll leave it up to Jen to decide if my translation cuts it. Weird how someone like me (who owns 0 records, went to 0 gigs) just gets it in his head to translate 15+ pages (15.4Kbyte). I guess listening to Grand Canyon at a friend's party was enough..

Dear Jennifer & Brandon, You got mail!! Bon voyage.... overseas Sound & Video 'Grand Canyon' is beautiful but can it last a little bit longer? I'm not mailing to say how fantastic yours music is. It was the feeling and imagination that touched me.Saw you two for the second time this year. First time was in february in Amsterdam. Then I had to leave before the concert ended. Had to catch the train to my home-town in Alkmaar. You played there, 19th of november, in Atlantis. Started with Grand Canyon on request. "Can everybody shut up please". Jen you are a real chameleon with all the colours of the rainbow and of the loving kind. Stay as you are! For sure: Come back to Holland in spring 2003. Kisses ( 3 times in Holland). Very weird but sometimes when you touched the piano Laura Nero crossed my mind... Take good care of yourselves & Merry Christmas to you two. Wish you well Dick

(well, 'everyone' begins with Dear Jennifer, how boring...) I liked your show in the gaz station. I thought it would be an big room, and lots of people. But this was better, I think. I don't want to write too much, words don't mean that much. I only wanted you to say that I'm amazed that you play so warm, with your small, cold hands. (at that moment they were) (I always look at the hands) And I wonder were you get that (soft)pubic-hear from. Greetz eveline.

Dear Jennifer, I must admit that I have not been that impressed with female 'pop' artists in the past, choosing to be more interesed in male dominated rock bands who sing about how hard it is to be rich, popular, famous and successful. BUT after reading (actually, I think it was in) The Sunday Times The Musician review I was rather keen to hear your CD. Now I am qualified to say I think you have a very special gift that can access the nostalgic, melancholic, romantic and optimistic threads that weave through all our lives. I dont think I have been moved by music to this extent for a very very long time (I have have over 200 CDs encompassing a very ecletic range.) When one listens you already know that you have to listen to it again as you feel and see the musicians ideas and wonder what it is that is touching you and why you like so much, and all with such a minamalist approach. The melodies and and your voice are, as you Americans would say, truly awesome. You cannot help but cry to some of the songs like 'sounding a simple chord', 'the painter', and my favourite, 'emotional laxatives'. I hope you keep your musical 'purity' and sense of humour, dont get too sentimental, and remember, as I am sure you already know, dont let 'the ignorant bastards' grind you down. Lots and lots of love, Vince PS What was the last song on side 2?

Dear Jennifer, Beauty doesn't always come in symmetry. Best line from a new song THREE LEGGED DOG you played in Tilburg on November 2nd. You were supporting Michelle Shocked who didn't show up. Instead you played for about an hour and a half. It was intense as could be expected. A room full of disappointed Shocked fans was conquered within a minute of the first song. I was already lost forever in February when we met at the radio station in Den Bosch. The high point yesterday was when you recognized me in the lobby before the concert and gave me a hug. Thanks for your kind words on the video Grand Canyon. What a masterpiece of a film. Can't wait for your new album in 2003. See you again Jennifer, someday. PS Brendan is a magnificent bass player. Dear Jennifer, Wow! thank you for your quick response. I was actually already looking for tourdates in Holland and noticed via your dutch recordcompany, continental, you are coming back in November. A friend of me reminded me that you were coming back. He saw you in Leiden and was very enthousiastic (to mention an understatement) about your performance. So probably we are coming together. I was really enjoying your website, especially the page about your experiences during your tour. You even travelled with our infamous traincompany 'NS'(Nederlandse Spoorwegen) I'm sorry you had to bear that :) So there aren't any 'stroopwafels'in the US? maybe you should come to Maastricht and taste our 'Limburgse vlaaien' (or I should bring you one :) ) I think you are at least in the neigbourhood because you are playing in Panningen as well? It's a very small village in middle-limburg (at least if it is Helden-Panningen?? Maybe there are more places in holland called 'Panningen' gosh.. I don't know actually..) ANYWEE: I cannot thank you enough for your music and the inspiration it gives to me. hpefully I see you in November. IN the meantime: goodluck with the recordingproces :) allmybest, paul.

Dear Jennifer, I miss any comments by you in your European journal about your one hour live radio special in Den Bosch on February 27th. I hope it didn't make that little of an impression. Since I was the only visiting fan there and had the chance to speak to you and Brendan before the show it was a memorable evening. Your performance was intense, even though you had to play with a malfunctioning amplifier. Thanks to Theo I have a recording of it on cd (including your National Radio performance on March 2nd). Thank you for the kind words you've written in my CD (the dark and beautiful sometimes go hand in hand, I agree). Dear Jennifer, I was just wondering how the work on the new album is progressing. I can't wait to hear it. But untill then, the other cd's will do 'quite nicely'. I keep on listening to them; your music is the best I've heard in years. Thank you again for that and I'm also very grateful tot Eric, without whom I would never have heard of you. Some of my friends are very enthousiastic about your music, so the audience keeps on growing. See you in september! We'll make Holland hear you! Love, R

Jennifer,
I received the package yesterday...have been listening very intently, with my heart, my soul, and my mind. You are truly a strange and beautiful person...I thank you for the exposure of your spirit, the transparency of your intent. The Music is a beating heart, the lyrics the blood coursing through it. Blood has no moral culpability, only vulnerability and immediacy, and that is how your music finds it's way to me.
Damn those people that compare your work to Tori Amos' .....you've gone to a place that she has no intention of visiting....
Love, peace and support to you, and big congrats on the licensing deal!!

Jen,
I can't express adequately what a wonderful experience your performance at The Knitting Factory was for me. As a longtime fan of Jill Tracy's music, I felt that lucking into being introduced to your music and Aiko Shimada's on the same eve as my first chance to see Jill perform live was a real triple-scoop blessing. To say that I am impressed by THE MUSICIAN would be a gross understatement --- it's two parts magic, a jigger of "wow," and an undetermined amount of secret something. My every best wish to you as you continue your musical journey with dynamic soul and integrity. I'll know by Thursday if I'll be free to make the trek to the house concert... otherwise, I'll just keep checking the site for my next opportunity to experience your work.

Hi Jennifer,
I went to your concert in the Q-bus in Leiden (Holland) and was amazed by your presence and music. I had to be at the show because I was asked to play some CD's and because I was just a little curious what you would sound like.
With my prejudice intact ('yet another chicksinger' etc..) you started your show and startled me as well.
I still can't describe your music to my friends who weren't there so I could only say to them that you are a 'must see' when you visit The Netherlands again.
Well, long story short: I took some pictures and would like you to 'have' 'em as a memory of your concert in Leiden. Feel free to use them on your website or whatever.
Hope to see you next time in Holland and good luck with your songwriting and recording.
Love (& kisses),
Michel

Dear Jennifer,
Thanks so much for doing this for me - Andrew just got the email and is completely blown away! You're music has brought us together - two kindred souls so much in love.
I'll keep you up top date - especially if wedding bells sound! :-) Can't wait until you come to Scotland - if not we'll just have to come to you.
Please keep in touch - and thank you for bringing such wonderful music into the world.

Jennifer,
Glad you're back home safely and your European Tour was a success. I attended your last home concert before you left for Europe. WOW! Im hoping I can make it out there for the next one, this time with the right date! You need to fore warn people of the sensual ambiance you create with the passion, intensity, depth and soul of your music/poetry. It's almost like it puts you in a trance by the end of your concert. I am not kidding, Jen. The setting was so perfect-the drive, the trees, the stars and the cold air, then stepping into the warmth of your cozy little house, the smiling faces welcoming me in, I felt so right at home, and I didn't know anyone in the room. Then, tippee toeing over everyone to the one spot left on the floor in the middle of your living room-watching tiny little you step up to the mic, the serenity of your soft voice, then out of nowhere suddenly you explode like fireworks filling the sky in slow motion. I felt like I was dreaming. And I wasn't even stoned yet. I had never heard you sing before that night. I drove from LA to Painted Cave after only reading some of your lyrics, I had been so impressed by just your words. But when I heard your voice, DAMN, I was speechless! What you create is more than music. But when I turned and looked at my date, reality kicked in and I realized I was not dreaming, wishing someone else was there with me, the one I wanted to share this intensity and passion with, I was bummed. Nothing against my date personally. But I just couldn't believe that everything was so perfect and that I didn't even invite the one man in this world that I would want to share this experience with, I had no idea it was gonna be like this (But, I did him anyway, I couldn't stand it! LOL!!!!) I'm telling you girl, by the time I left your place that night, I was on fire! I don't know if people tell you this all the time (probably not strangers),but trust me, Im not a weirdo and don't usually share all this personal information with someone I hardly know, but I am certain that most (if not all) of those people who left there that night felt the same way (whether they admit it or not). What a gift you have been given. Your impact is amazing. You are unique, beautiful, and most of all, REAL. I am so glad I stumbled into your path. Can't wait to see you perform again. If you ever have anything scheduled out this way, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, LA, etc., please be sure to let me know. I had invited you to stop by whenever you're in the area for a drink or a toke before- I don't know if you remember, but I hadn't even met you yet. Now that I've met you, the next time youre in this area I INSIST that you and Brendan stop by! You'll like it here. So, anyway, now Im all worked up again! (just kidding) I just wanted you to know how incredible the intensity of your impact! "Chiquita pero Picosa (y sabrosa)!" Not sure if I said that right or not. But it's a saying in Spanish that means: Tiny but PACKED LIKE DYNAMITE(and FEARLESS)<-I added that last part for you. Anyway, its getting late, glad your back and I cant wait to see you again soon. Would love to hear more about F.A.T. and share some ideas with you, too. Hoping I can make arrangements to drive out to your next concert. Take care........ Sincerely, A

Dear Jennifer, Thanks for your reaction. I really appreciate that you take the time for your audience, because it gives the music an extra when you know what it's all about and who is playing it.
I read that you're sick right now, so I hope you'll get well real soon. Hope it's not the weather here in Holland that made you ill. Surely in August the weather will be better.
Anyway, 'Rabbit' and 'Cruel' really blew me away, although they're notably different from 'The Musician'. They're much rawer and it seems to me, more intense. It seems your voice is much lower on those two albums. I think LA 101 is a great song, so I was anxious to find out what it sounded like on the album -> + +. My compliments. Furthermore I wanted to say that the Querelle performance in Alphen (when you asked for AA batteries) was very special to me. I'm a regular visitor, and I was surprised that the whole place was dead quiet during your first song. That was special. So that's what I really wanted to tell you. I can't remember when I last was so enthousiastic about and touched by newly discovered music. Thank you for that. I'm 'spreading the word' here in Holland.
Love,
Rob

I have met you yesterday in a record store in Arnhem in Holland. Your music is brilliant and I could do nothing else but buy all 3 CD,s. I know of your existence from the Dutch magazine HEAVEN. Yesterday unfortunately I had to leave immediately after your performance, so I did not have the time for a little chat. However, if you inform me when you return to our country later this year, I will come again and listen to you performing live. I wish you good luck and if you really want that, an audience as big as Tom Waits has got. And I hope that someone is going to distribute your albums in all of our record stores.
I am not finished yet. I also want to say that Cruel is also very impressive and in it's quality in the same category as The Musician.
The best wishes and next time we'll meet in a big entourage like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Paul

Unique artist - wonderful music,
from Leiden Netherlands
A friend of mine invited me to come along to a Jennifer Terran performance in Leiden (The Netherlands). We both had never heard of her, but the often made comparisons sparked our curiosity. Well, Jennifer proved all the critics wrong - she's unique! She played a wonderful set, and I immediately bought the album, which she kindly signed for me. Her music is very impressive, very diverse, and her lyrics very direct, which goes so well with her music. The opening song, "Liberty Lunch", is achingly beautiful, her voice delivering it with so much emotion. Other stand out tracks are "Santa's Secret", "This Recording", "Sticky Sweet 8 To 5 Lady" and "Sweet Love". I recommend this record to anyone who appreciates originality, female-voices and piano-based music.

jennifer...it's been awhile since i've correspond with you. i'm wondering if you're busy working on any new music?! that last disc of yours sure blew my mind. still haven't heard anything even remotely like it. must admit i haven't noticed whether you've performed in the area lately, but i do hope you're making new recordings. a person with your degree of talent should never languish for too long without creating something, although I'm probably being selfish by saying that. peace & love...ric

Hi Jennifer and Brandon.
I saw your first show in Europe, Holland and in Koudekerk. I am a co-operator of that small but cosy place in Koudekerk.
I have seen many, many concerts in my life, from supergroups till small one musican performances. I saw a lot off bands , just do their thing.
You both are pure, wonderfull musicians. From the first notes I enjoyed your music. It went right to my heart . I saw or should I say withnesed a great, pure, powerfull, concert. Thank you , thank you.
The next day I went an a holiday and brought your C.D with me. So after a day of skiing I listened to your music every day. And I still enjoy it.It gave me shivers.
I hope you have a nice time in this country. Don''t get lost will running. ( Though it is nice to get lost from time to time)
Stay yourself,
with admiration

Hi Jennifer en Brendan,
Thank you again for the wonderful concert last night. My three friends were pleasantly surprised (don't you love that when you drag people with you to a movie or a concert and they are pleasantly surprised? It's a little bit as if you are partly responsible for their experience)
I am by the way pleasantly surprised by Cruel, which is a different, somewhat 'smaller' album then The Musician. Very suitable for this Sunday morning; sitting in the sun with a slight hangover and a big cup of coffee.
And Girl, Not a Woman rocks!!
Are you making any recordings of the concerts over here, or do you have some live recordings back home? I would love to have your live versions of L.A. 101, or Daddy's $ on MP3. They were so intense. Maybe a nice present for the visitors of your site? (Hint)
I wish you and Brendan well and I hope you will have a great time playing in our little country, with fantastic and intense music-
Bye

Hi Jennifer,
Last night, I was at your performance in Leiden - it was so wonderful and inspiring! Thank you so much for the wonderful music. When I got home, I immediately put on The Musician - it's an amazing album. What a voice!
I'm looking forward very much to see you on another date on your tour of this cold little country.

Thank you, Jennifer, so much for your sharing and creation of such innovative and personal music. I was very touched by some of your songs last night - several brought tears to my eyes, not out of sadness, but out of the songs touching such deep places. I love the creativity and unique sound and presentation that you two do. It's so rare that an artist will keep believing in him or herself and have the perseverance to stick with it through thick and thin. I admire your persistence on a given path. I did music all my life - piano, guitar, and vocal - even majored in it at college, but was always very mediocre and never could compose or create my own. It just didn't flow out of me. I put people like you who can do that on a higher plane than the rest of us. Please keep doing what you do - do do that voo doo that you do so well....Not to mention that you have to handle the whole business side of it as well, an area that most artists fail at miserably because it is not innate to their creative side, but is equally as important and not the most fun...
Doug and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. A rare treat. I hope your tour in Amsterdam is nothing but fun, excitement, and victory. Don't stop - you both have a gift!!!!--
Lovin' Life,
Stephanie

Jen,
I would love to attend another home concert but I will be out of town Sunday. Your last home gathering was absolutely wonderful (and produced a very erotic atmosphere!!!)
Happy trails to the Northland and I look forward to attending your March gatherings when you return. I'm sure you will have many a wonderful story to tell and maybe the first glimpse of your new song: "They don't call it Trader Joe's in Holland but you can get equally large chocolate bars and Barbie parkas"
