PHENOMENON
JENNIFER TERRAN: Most Unusual Artist. A Film Noire Singer-Magician!

Jennifer Terran is an unusual, very unusual kind of artists and quite a woman! A truly magnificent Film Noire Diva and a world-class songwriter-singer. This woman is unique, captivating vocalist, pianist, tenderly rebellious songwriter, producer by raison d'etre and necessity, hip-hop dynamic instructor and dancer, story-teller, an existentialist philosopher, an emotionally and intellectually charged teaser and provocative presence and most certainly a daring-devil entrepreneur. It is hard not to notice her presence in a room, or not to gaze at the way she moves, she talks and most certainly it is quite impossible not to get fully absorbed by the crafty style she adopted to scream life in her songs and music. Quite a woman and quite an artist indeed! She has already released on her own and independent record label, Grizelda Records, four splendid records "Cruel", "Rabbit", Live from Painted Cave" and the internationally acclaimed "The Musician".

Terran: "Feel like a secret and I'm going to strike."

This captivating and unusual artist expresses herself in a most unorthodox and alarmingly delightful way. To her, all she knows is that her job is to dig down deep and put it out there, naked, real, just her honest truth and total love, expressed to her best ability through the music. Jennifer explained that "As an independent artist, I had gotten to the point where the job of getting the music out there was getting in the way of me creating and playing the music. So I decided to disappear from view, get back to what was real and put all my energy into making a recording that would really speak for me. And that is essentially what went down." The journey of making her most recent and extremely captivating album "The Musicians" was paved with bliss and inspiration, sometimes with utter hell and sadness. Terran adds: "And if I seem overly dramatic here, I'm sorry, but what can I say. I had never worked this hard for anything in my whole life! My drive and commitment to making this CD was ridiculous high. I suppose, because I knew I was getting down to what was really important to me in this world. And I knew I was engaged in something very special, if not for just myself, but for the people who could potentially understand."

She wrote:
"Understand I'm not sad This feels good And someday… I'll be heard There's this urgency for expression It's the instinct It's my prerogative It's my meaning."

And somewhere else she wrote:
"Oh come on over And bring your pretty blue pills Let's try for inspiration And say no to the world so we can get back to what is real I get consumed with the telephone With my appointments With the bills When everything I do is for love and for music."

JENNIFER TERRAN: She is more than a strong artistic presence. She could be charmingly and dangerously a challenging feminine power and sinfully beautiful prophetess!

What the critics are saying about this Film Noire Diva:
"Four Stars for "The Musician", ROLLING STONE. "ALL OF you wondering whether Kate Bush is going to release another album, or if Tori Amos will ever make another record as good as her debut, can stop bothering with such side issues. Here's the album you've been waiting for.... I don't think there's a duff track. Her voice is staggering. And you've got to love someone who can yell out a full-on, Springsteenesque '1-2-3-4!' to announce the arrival of a violin." Terran's "The Musician"- #2 BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR, THE TIMES (London). "...sounds a lot like, well, Jennifer Terran. Grade A." L.A. Times-Bill Locey. "Terran is remarkable...equal to that of a young Joni Mitchell." LA Weekly-Greg Burk. "Terran's vocal ability is staggering. Her songs are beautiful." Independent (UK). "Breathtaking... timeless... pure... monumental.... Categorizing Jennifer Terran is impossible. Terran is a style of her own." One of the Best Top 10 Albums of the Year", OOr Critics Choice, Holland. "The Musician is Terran's third album, but strangely enough it has the innocence of a debut. The compositions are fluent and playful, both rough and soft. Terran produced and mixed everything herself, but has succeeded in preventing that the spontaneity of her music was killed by perfectionism... At some point Tori Amos had that same gift, but in the meantime she has become a phenomena… Let's hope that Jennifer Terran will never become world famous., PLATOMANIA (HOLLAND). "Terran is extraordinary USA singer/songwriter and THE MUSICIAN places her firmly in the top echelon of her craft. This is remarkable pop music, and one of 2002's few essential albums". The Musician: #1 BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR", SHAKENSTIR (UK). Jennifer Terran's musical ability seems virtually limitless…. The album successfully captures the absolute originality of Jennifer Terran.", Santa Barbara Independent.

Jennifer Terran's musical quality is superb. Her voice transcends the landscape of your fantasies and bleeding human truth. Her presence in stage is pulverizing and captivating. It is quite an intellectual challenge, an artistic delight and sensually learning experience to listen to Terran and sail into the infinity of her emotions, delightful creative madness and multidimensional universe of poetry, visions and dialogue with life, the absurd, the sacred and the forbidden. A superb artist at many levels.
