THE MUSICIAN ALBUM Review: venerdì 12 aprile 2002

Non credo ai colpi di fulmine, ma questo lo è stato! Il disco di Jennifer Terran mi ha letteralmente stregato, rapito e nascosto tra le fitte ed oscure trame della sua voce e della sua musica. Questo è un disco del 2001, il terzo di questa cantante, pianista, compositrice, produttore, ingegnere e performer... così lei ama definirsi, arrivata grazie all'interessamento dell'olandese Rick's Records sulla mia scrivania. L'impatto con The musician è stato devastante, già dopo le prime note dell'iniziale Liberty Lunch ho capito che questo non era un disco qualunque, un pianoforte appena sfiorato, delicato che fa da accompagnamento ad una voce che ricava forza ed emozioni dal più profondo dell'anima, creando atmosfere che ti scavano in profondità e ti lasciano abbandonare, il corpo leggero, alle storie di vita che Jennifer racconta con dolcezza ed intensità! Il disco ha richiesto due anni di studio tecnico e di lavoro da parte di Jennifer che ha registrato e realizzato il tutto a casa propria, in quello che lei definisce il suo spazio creativo! Gli elementi di questo The musician sono essenzialmente 2, il piano e la voce che si muovono in perfetta armonia supportati talvolta da cori e da una band che interviene nei momenti opportuni. E' la voce di Jennifer che riesce a creare scenari indefiniti, paesaggi dai tratti appena accennati ed un mescolarsi di emozioni come la gioia, il dolore, la solitudine. Trovo che in questo lavoro Jennifer si metta a nudo, la copertina che la ritrae nuda al piano è una riprova, ma non solo esteriormente, ci vuole fare entrare nel suo mondo, apre le porte della sua anima, il fatto di aver registrato in casa rende i suoni veri, genuini e le emozioni e le storie che ne escono sono reali, The musician è una ricerca vicendevole di un contatto fisico-spirituale con Jennifer Terran, mai un disco mi ha fatto provare così tanta vicinanza con l'artista, ascolterei quel canto per giorni senza stancarmene e cogliendo ogni volta messaggi e sfumature differenti. Un disco affascinante che vi trasporterà dalla prima all'ultima nota nel ricco universo musicale ed emotivo di Jennifer Terran, una vera grande artista!

I don't believe in strikes of lightning but this is it! The CD of Jennifer Terran has literally bewitched, ravished and hid me between the sharp pains and the dark threads of her voice and music.

This CD is from 2001 and the third from this singer, pianiste, composer, producer,engineer and performer-or so she likes to call herself. It arrived on my desktop courtesy of Rick's Records from Holland and the impact of "The Musician" was devastating.

Right after the first note of the first song"Liberty Lunch" I understood that this was a CD like no other! A soft, delicate piano that accopanies the voice and obtains force and emotion from the deepest part of the soul and creates an atmosphere which effects you deeply and lets you abbandon yourself-your body light-to the story of the life of Jennifer Terran which she tells with sweetness and intensity.

The CD has demanded two years of studio time and work on the part of Jennifer who has produced and realized it all at home- her personal creative space.The elements in "the Musician"are essentially two,the piano and the voice that move in perfect harmony supported by the vocals and band that accompany them at opportune moments.The voice of Jennifer is able to create infinite scenes and passages that seem to blend emotions like joy sorrow and solitude.I found that in is , Jennifer has left herself completely open(naked)-the cover of the CD features her at the piano naked and is a a confirmation not only outwardly, that she want us to enter her world and open the door to her soul.

The fact that she produced this at home makes her playing true(real) and genuine."The Musician" ia a mutual search to connect with the physical and spiritual sides of Jennifer. Never have I heard a Cd that puts one so close to the artist I could listen to it for days without becoming tired and each time catch different messages and shades of meaning.This is a fasinating CD that will transport you from the first note to the rich musical and emotional universe of Jennifer Terran, a truly great artist!
