Earlier Jennifer Terran Recordings:

Jennifer Terran at 12 years old:

The first recordings I did were when I was 12 with a nice producer man who thought he was make me into a big kid star. Anyway, we recorded a lot, although the material he chose was not very happening. But I did enjoy it and now wish I had some of the recordings we made, before my voice changed.

Jennifer Terran /12-14 years old:
Also at that time, (and if anybody out there has it, please, please let me know), was a recording of Griselda, my 7th grade solo in the advanced girls choir at John Muir Jr. High School. John Muir would also put out yearly choir records that included some funky solos of mine.

Jennifer Terran - Solo Demo at 14 years old:
Toward the end of Jr. High School, I did a demo of two songs - one an original by some friend of my dad's and the other, Out here on my own. Out here on my own is going to made available as an MP3 in the near future, so be sure to check back if you are curious.

Jennifer Terran - Fried Food & Sugar (Solo Demo)/1991:
'Fried Food and Sugar' was my first solo/original music demo, which was never really made available to people. It included one of my favorites for a long time, Fried Food and Sugar and an earlier version of Losing Glue which is eventually going to be recorded and released.

Puppet Show/1991:
Puppet Show was my first original band and was a very charged and stormy thing. It came about when I answered Tony Sevener's (drummer) ad in a local music store, who like myself, was wanting to form a band. From there, Tony brought in a couple friends Mike Mariani (guitar) and Dan Rising (bass) and the adventure was born.

The music was mainly a collaboration between all of us, although I wrote the melodies and lyrics and Mike wrote most of the music. We never did anything with this recording except make copies for our friends. However, one of the songs off the demo Girl, not a Woman was included (in its original state) on my solo debut CRUEL. Other songs on the demo were, LA 101 (a very ruff and early version), States of Mind, Stale and Safe and One out of Three.

Jennifer Terran - Live at the Green Dragon (Solo Piano and Voice)/1991:
My first solo original music gig was at the old Green Dragon in Santa Barbara, CA. They had a wondrous grand piano at the time and it was a great space for acoustic music, (especially when they weren't making espresso). Included in this recording was my first batch of songs: "Her Fall" (which was re-recorded for my debut CRUEL), Daddy's Money(a very early version) and many other songs and scraps of songs which I'm not remembering right now.

Jennifer Terran - The Machine (Solo Demo)/ 1992:
This was recorded with myself and Tony Sevener producing. It was mostly done live- voice and piano at a little studio in LA to 2-inch tape. The demo included: The Machine, 88, Uneasy in my Own Skin and one that was not put on the tape, Daily Affair with the Drugstore.

Grizelda on CD/ 1993:
Grizelda was a progressive rock band with a very unique sound because each player was coming from a very different musical perspective. As a band, we mainly covered my compositions, with each person putting his own signiture forth. Unfortunately the CD didn't accurately reflect what the band could really do. But what's new?!

The band was comprised of Tony Sevener (drums), Brendan Statom (electric and double bass), Daniel Zimmerman (electric guitar) and myself (voice and keyboards). The CD was recorded in a week in the old studio behind the Castle Music Store in Santa Barbara, CA. Anyway, I have a hard time listening it (actually I haven't listened to it in years). You see my voice was so damn strained when we recorded it. I had a whooping 2 hours to do all the vocals for 5 songs. But the issue was larger than that. The real problem was that I was trying to sing over a loud electric band and I guess that's what the recording reflects. I know better now.

Anyway, much good came from the project including meeting and beginning to play with Brendan Statom. Songs included on the CD were: Freedom (Numbing DisEase), 9,000,000 Witches, Mutation Rounds, Grizelda and Blue Sky Playground.

Just when the band was breaking up, we sort of wrote a song together called: Grand Canyon. It's been one of my favorites since then and is included on my third solo record on CD, The Musician, although it's been largely re-written since its beginning.
